The Industry Division is committed to foster investment and to facilitate industrial development in Tonga. These are guided by the Foreign Investment Act, 2002 and the Industrial Development Act of 1978 (please refer to the section on Laws & Regulations for further details).
A. SERVICES
The Division draws its focus on the following services: -
1) Management of the Industrial Development Incentives
2) Investment Promotion Activities
3) Private Sector Development Services
4) Investment Policies
1. Private Sector Development Services
Services that are targeted at the Private Sector are focused on the role of the division to facilitate and assist in the attempt to keep them grow and expand. These services involved the followings:-
• foster innovation and entrepreneurship
• identify and address critical business infrastructure gaps
2. Investment Promotion Activities:
Investment Promotion activities included attending to enquiries that are received from investors, collecting and updating of relevant information that are required by investors and publishing of information that are geared towards attracting Foreign Direct Investment to Tonga.
4. Investment Policies
The main focus of this unit is to promote the removal of barriers to business and to provide advice to Government on investment issues.
